Operator's Manual

Pre-operation Inspection
o Be sure that the operator's, safety and
responsibilities manuals are complete, legible
and in the storage container located on the
platform.
o Be sure that all decals are legible and in place.
See Decals section.
o Check for hydraulic oil leaks and proper oil
level. Add oil if needed. See Maintenance
section.
o Models with engines: Check for engine oil leaks
and proper fluid level. Add oil if needed. See
Maintenance section.
o Check for battery fluid leaks and proper fluid
level. Add distilled water if needed. See
Maintenance section.
o Check for proper tire pressure and lug nut
torque. Add air to tires if needed. See
Maintenance section.
Check the following components or areas for
damage, modifications and improperly installed or
missing parts:
o Electrical components, wiring and electrical
cables
o Hydraulic pump(s), reservoir, hoses,
fittings, cylinders and manifolds
o Fuel tank (if equipped)
o Engine and related components
(if equipped)
o Boom components and wear pads
o Tires and wheels
o Trailer lights and reflectors
o Parking brake components
o Outriggers and foot pads
o Alarms and horn
o Nuts, bolts and other fasteners
PRE-OPERATION INSPECTION
o Platform entry mid-rail/gate
o Surge brake components (if equipped)
o Safety chains (if required)
o Mechanical brake components (if equipped)
o Beacon and alarms (if equipped)
Check entire machine for:
o Cracks in welds or structural components
o Dents or damage to machine
o Be sure that all structural and other critical
components are present and all associated
fasteners and pins are in place and properly
tightened.
o Be sure that the machine is properly configured
for use.
Personnel lifting configuration: Be sure the
platform is properly installed.
Material lifting configuration: Be sure the
material lifting hook is properly installed.
o Be sure that the batteries are in place and
properly connected.
o Models equipped with hydraulic surge brake
systems: Check the hydraulic oil level in the
surge brake. Check for leaks.
o After you complete your inspection, be sure that
all compartment covers are in place and
latched.
