BDVR Manual 43 Version 1.2
8. Network Setup
A static service has an IP address that remains constant for the duration of the contract
with the Internet Service Provider (ISP), whereas a dynamic service consists of an IP
address that possibly changes every time a new connection is made through the ISP, or
recurrently in a given period of time. Most Internet Service Providers offer both solutions and
this manual distinguishes between them, according to commonly available service types,
when configuring the DVR for networking purposes.
